THE STORY
What new story unfolds when a Japanese song finds a home in Arabic?
Children of the Moon is one answer. It's a manga-inspired animated music video that brings Japanese and Palestinian musical traditions together through an Arabic adaptation of a contemporary Japanese song - performed by musicians and young artists from Palestine and the United States.
At its heart, the project reflects on the transience of life, cultural connection, and the shared humanity that music can reveal. Even as the language and arrangement shift, the song keeps the emotional force of the original while taking on a character entirely its own.
Sachiyo
Yoshimoto
Creator & Producer
Violinist, composer, and educator Sachiyo Yoshimoto created and produced Children of the Moon. Years spent studying Japanese and Arabic music, and meeting young musicians in Palestine, planted the seed for this project. What began as workshops and shared musical moments grew into new collaborations — and eventually, into a Japanese song finding a new voice in Arabic.
Ghada
Ghanem
Arabic Adaptation & Vocals
Lebanese soprano, songwriter, and composer Ghada Ghanem gives the song its Arabic voice, crafting the adaptation and shaping its vocal interpretation. Drawing on her deep connection to both Arabic and Western classical traditions, she brings a distinctly Arabic musical character and emotional depth to the original.
Oud, qanun, cello,
flute, piano, violin, voice
— and a cast of young Palestinian and American musicians.
Japanese melodies are recast through Arabic lyrics and instrumentation, bringing two musical traditions into conversation.
For Kaman Arts, this video is both an artistic beginning and an invitation
— to listen, to connect, and to support the young musicians who helped bring the project to life.
